THE CITY OF SAND POINT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR:

POSITION:                Police Officer I

DEPARTMENT:        Public Safety (Police)

 

SUPERVISED BY:   Director of Public Safety / Chief of Police

 

 

DUTIES:                     Under the supervision of the Chief of Police, or his designee, performs law enforcement duties in the protection and safeguarding of life and property, the prevention of crime, the apprehension of criminals, animal control and the preservation of peace. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a US Citizen and at least 21 years of age.  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Prior police experience with current Alaska or out of state certification preferred.  Must be eligible for and obtain Alaska Police Standards Council certification within 12 months of hire.  Must possess a current Alaska Driver’s License.  The selection process may include a written test, oral board, individual interview and in-depth criminal background and character checks.  Applicants may also be required to submit to psychological testing, physical fitness, drug testing and a polygraph.

 

SALARY:                  DOE with full benefits and retirement
